Your journey sounds something like mine with the on-again, off-again vegetarianism. My wife and I are in our 60's and 4 year ago we decided to buy a small 4-acre farm instead of retiring. We grow all our vegetables organically, along with our small orchard. We too had chickens (10 of them), as much for the manure as the free range organic eggs. Nice read!
