You pretty much nailed it. My first year on Medium I made all the mistake you mention, and made about $29. I have learned much. I have a number of article now that have earned over $300, and I have had several months where I made over $1000. Oh, I still have my articles that get 45 views, 23 reads and make $2.13 too, but the balance is tipping more and more in my favor as I learn. Thanks for a great article!
