You make some great points. Just about everyone in the U.S. knows who Anne Frank is, but almost no one knows much about her. The Holocaust was horrible, as was many other forms of genocide perpetrated all over, including here. I think the number 6 million is what gives the Holocaust its notoriety - that, and that we white Americans can say we didn't do it.
