Yes, yes, yes!!! My son attended a Montessori school when he was little, and they would not let me even carry his lunchbox in for him or help him with his coat. Later he had to push his own carry-on when we flew somewhere. He went to college 3000 miles away and was never homesick, and today he is thriving and living in downtown LA after graduating from USC. We talk and text every day. We miss each other, and we don't miss each other. It's a nice, healthy balance. You are doing everything right.
