Wonderfully insightful, Dan. I concur. The last time I attended my hometown church, the service was not terribly different than when I attended there as a small boy. Rote prayers and songs. Stand. Sit. Kneel. It's the same people doing the same thing over and over without every really thinking about what they are doing or why. Everything is safely choreographed.
