Wonderful piece of writing, Ena. And so incredibily true. We have exchanged comments enough that I think you probably are aware of where I teach. I teach the truth, and fortunately I am in a place where I can. My young African-American students know a lot about why things are the way they are, and I do what I can, one student at a time. Today's "win" was convincing a 17 year old girl to talk to our counselor about her desire to be a firefighter. Tomorrow I will look for another opportunity to win.
