Why I Think Trump Will Win

On November 5th, I hope everyone who reads this points at me, laughs, and says “You were wrong, John!”

That being said, I think Donald Trump is going to win the election.

When I tell people this, some look shocked. Others look dismayed. People want to know why I believe this. To be perfectly honest, I don’t have any concrete proof this will happen, but there is just something in the air. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it’s something I can feel.

The last time I felt this way was in the election of 2000. No matter how stupid George W. Bush looked or acted, and no matter what he did in the past, nothing seemed to matter. He just somehow floated to the top. His past alcohol use didn’t matter. Using family connections to avoid serving in Vietnam didn’t matter. His “C” average in college didn’t matter. Every arrow fell short and no mud stuck to his Teflon. He walked between the raindrops.

Then, in what has to be one of the most corrupt elections in U.S. history, the Supreme Court appointed by his father and Florida, the state in which his brother was governor, ensured his victory. Even though his opponent Al Gore received 543,895 more popular votes, Bush ended up winning the Electoral College. Gore became the first person since Grover Cleveland…
