What a unique topic! I truly have never seen a boarding house is modern times. The closest thing we have to them now are halfway houses, where people getting out of prison or drug rehab live until they can make it on their own without supervision. I suppose the modern B&B is something like a short-term boarding house, maybe? I have not read these novels. They sound intriguing.
