Until the work of the Stay-at-home-parent is valued by the larger society, it will remain like this. I am aware of a few father who stayed at home with the kids so their wife, who had the better job, would stay in the workforce. Granted, the numbers are much much smaller, but I wonder how they fair when the re-enter the workforce.
