This was an EXCELLENT read and made me think of many past trips I've made. I share many of your values that way. Unsoliticed advice: I know how Medium readers are. They like short paragraphs. You might re-think one of two of your longer ones and break them into two. Pictures also add a lot to an article. They give the reader's eyes a momentary rest.
