This might be an indictment of debates themselves. When was the last time someone's campaign skyrocketed after a great debate performance? They might nudge up a point or two, but the risk of a gaffe and falling apart is much greater. Think of Rick Perry forgetting which departments he would eliminate and asked Ron Paul for help, or Dan Quayle and his JFK thing with Lloyd Benson.
