This is one of the reasons young people aren't going into teaching. Salary is always downplayed. We teach for the outcome, not the income. Can't we teach for both? Why do we have to act like the salary isn't important.? What other profession is asked to do that? It is important, and teachers deserve a good salary. Imagine using a line like that on doctors - they shouldn't be paid a lot because they are in it for the outcome, not the income. That would be laughable. There is a reason there is a teacher shortage, and the anemic salaries is a part of it.
