This is a great story. A word of advice on formatting: break your long paragraphs into shorter ones to give your readers' eyes a periodic rest. The attention span of many readers on Medium is fairly short. This is too good of a story to stop reading because of formatting. Using your own pictures made this piece simply delicious.
