The U.S. was an oligarchy from day 1. Until Donald Trump, George Washington was the wealthiest president. Thomas Jefferson too was enormously wealthy. The American Revolution was simply a transfer of wealth from the English oligarchy to the American oligarchy, sprinkled with a light dusting of "rights."
