The pears were rock hard. One interesting thing about the orchard is they had one Macintosh tree for their family, and we could eat them too. But just one tree. We have an orchard near our house where they grow dozens of different apples — kinds you can’t buy in a store. There are a lot of orchards around here in SE Wisconsin. We have 14 apple trees on our little farm.
