The conundrum for teachers is if you prop up a failing system by working hard and sucking it up, you are kind of contributing to keeping it alive. What is the alternative? To quit and let it fall? It can become quite the ethical dilemma. Do I buy things for my classroom, or do I let the kids go without? Do I work extra hours in the evening and weekends, or do I just toss ungraded assignments in the garbage as "practice?" These are questions many teachers struggle with.
