Ten People You See in an Airport
They come in all shapes and sizes
I sometimes end up with long layovers when I travel via air, which was the case on my recent trip to Los Angeles. One of my favorite things to do is watch the people I see pass by when I am seated having some coffee or a sandwich. There are all kinds of people at the airport for all kinds of reasons, but as I watched hundreds of people pass by, I came to realize there are really only ten types of people at the airport. Allow me to report my observations.
Perhaps the person I see most at the airport is what I call “The Common Man” traveler. This traveler, usually dressed in plain street clothes, might be going to a family reunion, to visit their son or daughter at college, or perhaps just a vacation without the need to advertise it to everyone around them. These are often the most talkative and are the ones most likely to strike up a conversation if you sit next to them.
The second type of person I see at the airport is “The Vacationer,” who is generally easy to spot. They are dressed for their vacation before the vacation even begins. In northern climes, these people will be wearing their Hawaiian shirts under their winter coats. They will also have shorts on under their pants so the moment the plane lands in their tropical destination, they can peel off the winter clothes and hit…
