Spot on, Baird. I did a presentation to a group of writers on Crows Feet a while back and I told them to play the long game. Cultivating a readership is what is important, and the only way to do that is to engage with people. I do my best to acknowledge every comment I get, and some months that is a tall order. I read a lot of people, but I give special attention to those who read mine. When someone gets so popular they can't acknowledge me, I tend to pull back. One step at a time and you eventually get where you're going. Or as Yogi Berra said, "if you don't know where you're going, you might not get there."
