My Haphazard, Slightly Schizoid Writing Process

There are a number of writers on this platform that I read regularly, or at least semi-regularly. They know who they are because I clap, leave comments, and do it fairly often. Some of these people I have been following for years, and some only a few months. They write good stuff, stuff worth reading and commenting on, stuff worth thinking about long after I am done reading.

I find myself wondering what their writing process looks like. Do they typically write at a nice desk in a quiet office space? Maybe they write at the kitchen table with a hot cup of coffee within arm’s reach. Or perhaps they like to sit in a funky coffee shop in the artsy part of town and sip on some overpriced latte while they work.

For each of the people I read regularly, I have an image in my mind of how they go about writing their pieces. There is no rationale for any of it. They are just images I have created of them working that add another dimension to their writing for me. These images are most likely complete works of fiction, but it does help me get a better “feel” for who I am reading.
