My first computer was an Apple IIe I bought in 1986. I watched Apple computers run circles around the Windows-based machines, and yet Windows/IBM was the safe choice, the “standard.” It wasn’t until Windows 95 was released that PC’s were user friendly at all, and even then it was because Windows 95 made PC’s look like Macs.
