Many years ago I calculated how much of a parent's taxes actually go toward my salary, based on average home price and what percent of the district budget my salary was. It came to 47 cents. I said I would cheerfully give a refund to any parent who was dissatisfied with my performance. Parents elect school boards to run the schools. If parents don't like the way the school is run, they can vote for different board members, change schools, or teach their kids at home.
