It is a flawed system to be sure. I agree with your points about the presidency, and I would add that the Supreme Court needs an overhaul as well. Lifetime appointments have turned it into a high stakes endeavor, with future justices being groomed years ahead of time, and elderly justices hanging on as long as they can until a president from their party is in power so that they will appoint a very young replacement from the same party. It is a dysfunctional system all the way around.
