If Manchin was a Republican and was sitting squarely in the middle of a divided senate and the GOP controlled the White House, they would call Manchin in and tell him if he doesn't support the GOP platform, they will primary him. The Dems will not do that, which tells me they are not confident about retaining the senate in 2022.
