I went to college in LaCrosse and taught for 27 years in the Twin Cities. I've done the drive you mention dozens for times. I spent a lot of time around the Mississippi and I could not agree more. In LaCrosse we would watch eagles land on the ice flows in the spring. Folk singer Larry Long called it The Blue Highway. If you are looking for healing and comfort, this is the place.
