I was on our union's negotiating team for 12 years. We never got the to point of striking, but we came close several times. Strikes are difficult if the union hasn't put away enough money to cover the lost wages and benefits (they stop your health insurance payments too, if it's part of your pay). We "worked to rule" several times where the coaches quit, everyone came to work on time and left on time, and did nothing extra. They got our point.
