I was in college when the AIDS epidemic first broke in 1985. OMG. Many of the fears you mention ran through all of our minds. In 1992 I heard that the brother of an old friend died of AIDS. I didn't even know he was gay. Then I read you could be asymptomatic for 10 years! OMG again. It was a scary time, and with OCD, I can't even imagine.
