I was in Belize in 1984. A friend and I rode a bus down the Yucatan to the border at Chetumal and walked over to Batty's Bus Service, a Belize bus company. We traveled down to Orange Walk Town and spend the night in Belize City. That was a scary place with no street lights and lots of people on the street. The hotel we stayed at had bars on the doors and windows. From there we traveled across Belize to Belmopan and then to the Guatemalan border. Our ultimate desintation was the ruins at Tikal. Long story. Maybe I should write it. The part where we were held at gun point was, um, interesing.
