I was a small time landlord many years ago. There would have been no way I could have cancelled anyone's rent unless I received the same treatment from my mortgage holders. There is a misperception that all landlords are wealthy and that all buildings are paid for. Nothing could be further from the truth. If I made $100 off a building in a month, I had a great month. Most months I didn't, and there were many where I lost money.
