I understand what you are saying. When the waitstaff takes my order and brings the food, I tip in excess of 20% most of the time. It's those places where I just walk up to the counter, order a coffee, and all they do is fill up a cup where I have a problem with tipping. I don't think counter people get paid sub-minimum wage like waitstaff do.
