I think that pizza quote is an old Yogi Berra malaprop. I agree with you about the helping out. People used to rent out rooms in their homes to people who couldn't afford their own place. Farmers used to have "hired hands" who worked in exchange for a place to stay and food to eat. We might be headed back that way.
