I think I have said this before, but in the past 12 months I have had 7 current or former students murdered through gun violence. Last week I learned that one of my students had a brother who was murdered by gun violence 6 months ago. No one has been arrested in any of the murders. There are shootings in the part of town where I teach every single day. Every. single. day.
