I tease my students that they spend all of their time chasing imaginary things. They earn "points" so they can trade them in for a "grade. " They trade their grades in a for a "credit." Then, when they have enough credits, they turn them in for a diploma. I tell them that in a closet in my home I have about 100,000 old, used points stored.
