I teach in the second poorest zip code in the state of Wisconsin in the city of Milwaukee. My students are 100% students of color, and about 99% African-American. You hit the nail on the head. There is no "win" for my students in this. We can send them home or we can send them home sick. The chaos and instability in their lives makes learning anywhere except at school incredibly difficult, if not just plain impossible. My heart goes out to my students.
