I teach at a high school with a student body that is 100% Black. Their ignorance of their own history is stunning and jaw-dropping. They can't tell you anything about MLK, Frederick Douglass, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, or Malcolm X, but they can recite 30 minutes of rap lyrics without taking a breath.
