I still remember when Ronald Reagan referred to the Contras in Nicaragua as "Freedom Fighters" when they were blowing up schools in their fight against the Sandinistas. Reagan even said he was a Contra too. Geez. The arms business is beautifully captured in the Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr. (2009). Professor Moriarty secretly owns large weapons-manufacturing facilities and is trying to get a world war started so he can sell "everything from bullets to bandages."
