I self-publish when I don’t think any of the pubs I am a writer for is a good fit. I’ve had self-published pieces boosted a number of times by Medium, but the odds are a little better with a pub. I’ve been averaging 2-3 boosts per month. Some people don’t self-publish because they are afraid they won’t get boosted, but that’s not true.
