I retired in May after 36 years in the classroom. I think you are experiencing what people who leave an abusive relationship feel - some remorse that it couldn't have been better, some relief, and a few fond memories of good times. For me, it is more like a long abusive marriage I stuck out and my abuser finally died. Good riddance. LOL...
