I never know whether we are a nation without a memory or a nation that just doesn't care. Each successive generation does not want the baggage of the prior ones. I teach high school and today's students were not born when 9/11 happened. Most simply are bored with it and don't want to spend much time learning about it. I would imagine COVID will follow the same route.
