I just retired after 36 years in the classroom. I never liked giving grades. I always told my colleagues that I make my grades out at the beginning of the term and then adjust the difficulty of the course so those grades were accurate. I have always found grades as highly subjective and fairly meaningless. What can an A student do in English that a B student cannot?
