I have had that "literacy test" argument with myself several times. Why should my bipolar niece, who barely graduated high school and talks about "delusional Democrats" get to vote when she has no idea what she is voting for? She knows almost nothing about politics or history, and her vote counts just the same as someone with a Ph.D. I am still wrestling with this one.
