I grew up in northern Wisconsin. Corporal punishment was used on us until I entered high school in 1972. In Catholic grade school it meant nuns could slap or spank you, and they did. In public school, they used a cutting board. They made you bend over and the smacked you HARD. It happened to me once. I will never forget it. The teacher that did it to me lost my respect for the rest of the time I knew him.
