I graduated high school in 1976. Even back then people were gaming the system to boost their GPA. We called them "cake classes," where you could get an A pretty much for just showing up. College was like that somewhere too. My son Kenneth sounds like Jamil - he took lots of AP courses, scored 33 or 34 on his SAT and went to USC. When he graduated high school, he was probably number 15 in his class. Several of the valedictorians (yes, several) had GPAs over 4.0.
