I feel your pain. I wrote on Medium for over a year before I made more than $5 in a month. My typical article got 45 views, 23 reads, and I made like $2 on it. I have learned a lot and am now in the 6.4% you are talking about. Nevertheless, I still have articles that get rejected, and I still have articles that get remarkably little attention.
