I don't know where you teach or if you are unionized, but this kind of thing would never have happened in Minnesota, where I spent much of my career. The first time a principal threatened my job, my union rep would have been right in there with me. Where was the director of special ed? This is pretty outrageous, to say the least. And about those "alternative schools," I have spent all but 3 of my 35 years teaching in them, and their reputation for being rough is grossly exaggerated. Seriously - way worse stuff has happened in the "regular" high schools than happen in alternative schools.
