I didn't survive 35 years in the classroom by being a martyr. I leave school at school and leave home at home. I work 40 or so hours a week, and maybe a few more ONLY if it is absolutely necessary. If they need a coach, they are right. They need a coach. I am not a coach. I have seen a lot of teachers burn out and quit in the first 3-5 years because they try to be everything to everyone. I've seen others rob their families of their time because they were busy tending to other people's kids. And there are people out there wondering why there is a teacher shortage. Duh.
