I bought a house in 2017 at the age of 59. I had owned a house most of my life, but lost it when my first wife and I split up. I will be paying for as long as I want to live in the house. At that point I will sell it, take whatever equity is in it, and probably downsize to a condo or apartment. I know I will never own a house with no payments. That is the price I had to pay to get out of my first marriage.
