I am a white male teacher in a high school whose student body is 100% black. You are absolutely correct about the effect of black male teachers on our students. The problem is circular. If the graduation rate of black males is low, the college enrollment of black males will also be low. The result? Few black male teachers. And given the salary and working conditions of teachers in general, what successful young black male would want to go into teaching? It is a vicious cycle.
