I agree with much of what you wrote. I would add this though - some of the blame must lie with those who told people who had been vaccinated to resume normal activities, knowing most of the country was still not vaccinated. These people hit the bars and restaurants and other high-volume venues. What about the vaccines? They apparently weren't as bullet-proof as the CDC was telling people. In the case of the Johnson and Johnson, it was only 66% effective. This rush to "get back to normal" was ill-advised.
