How the Media is Shaping Public Opinion on CEO’s Murder
A carefully crafted presentation of a crime
If you have looked at any news websites, read any major newspapers, or listened to the news on television in the past few days, you have most likely been inundated with the latest updates on the murder of Brian Thompson, the former CEO of United Healthcare. You would almost have to be trying in order not to be exposed to the latest information surrounding it, with new updates coming in regularly.
I will admit my surprise and, almost embarrassingly my disappointment, that the person apprehended for the shooting was Luigi Mangione, a young man of wealth and privilege. There was a part of me that was hoping the person who did the shooting was a person who suffered at the hands of United Healthcare, a person who was denied care or lost a loved one because of it.
That is not what we got.
The twofold job of the mainstream media
The corporate-owned news media knew what to do, and they immediately got to work. These people are masters at crafting the reality we all presume to live in. They are so good at it that we hardly know we are being manipulated at all.
