Haunted by Recurring Dreams

Making sense of my nighttime adventures

I dream a lot. Most mornings when I awaken, I can remember one or more dreams I had the night before. I don’t spend a lot of time trying to interpret them in a search for some underlying meaning, but I do wonder where in the heck some of the material comes from. For the most part, though, I think of them as free entertainment where I didn’t have to buy a ticket for admission.

It’s like a movie without the popcorn.

By far the most interesting dreams are the ones I have had, in various incarnations, more than once. These are what are known as “recurring dreams” and because I have had them multiple times, there is a familiarity with them each time I have one. It feels like I am returning to a place I already know.
